My Study Programme

 hi classmates and teacher

in this ocassion, im going to talk about my study programme. Currently, im student of second year of social work of the university of chile; i enter in the year 2022, after leaving 4th grade. social work at the university of chile convinced me because of its program of studies, which trains you as a social scientist. In particular, at the university of chile they work more on research, working in "nuclei" from the third year.

i can say that my experience studying at the university have been very good (i wanna believe that), of course I have also had a lot of stress, anxiety, anguish at times, but I take away the good things.

In the first year my subjects corresponded to a basic plan of social sciences, so to speak. I had philosophy, sociological theory, methodology, production, social history (of the world and then of Chile) and within the line of social work I had theoretical and political foundations and critical approaches to social work. In this first semester of my second year I have had economics and psychology, which I have liked very much and have surprised me because it was not what I expected. These along with social history have been my favorite subjects so far.

my experience has been full of emotions, I feel that time goes by very fast, especially this year. In my first semester we were “student stoppage” for 1 month, and this year we have mobilized and united as social work from different universities, first because they took social work out of the “health code” and since that event, we have seen the need to unite but because we believe that we must strengthen the discipline that has been harmed since the dictatorship. So on that note, Im excited for things to come for social work.

BLOG 5 - My Experiences Learning English

 hi classmates

in this blog, i will talk about my experiences learning english. In the first place, my first approach to English education was only in 5th grade, before that I had not had any English classes in the school. Now that has changed, because English is taught from pre-kindergarten, which I feel generates a better foundation in the language.

Regarding my experience studying English at the university, I can say that at the beginning it was strange, since i didn't have english for a period of time (this is my second time taking English as a course at the university) I felt that i had forgotten many things that I had learned in high school.

I can say that it has been a good experience in the university, in my previous course most of my classmates were from my same career, so they were known, not like now. But this is not bad, since I have been able to coexist with students from other careers of FACSO. In addition, I would like to point out that both professors that I have had have been very good teachers, and I can tell that they want us to learn and they use dynamics and materials that are pleasant and available to everyone. So I feel that the "demand" is good and the pedagogical methods.

The use of blogs seems to me an entertaining and efficient way to learn English, because in this way we can reinforce both writing and writing, besides having some kind of "interaction" with our classmates, getting to know each other and expressing our interesting depending on the topic of the blog.

I think I need to improve my writing, the way i put sentences together, the listening and my pronunciation (i've always struggled with it). I think I can improve by writing in English and watching series that use English to familiarize myself with it. I usually use English for reading in some entertainment applications (twitter, tiktok), listening to music and in series or movies.

bye.

Postgraduate Studies

Hi everyone, How have you been?

Well, this time i will talk about postgrade studies. Currently, I am second year student of social work in the University of Chile. This career has a duration of five years and in the last year one can choose whether to immediately take a master's course. that is, the curriculum of social work at the university of chile is created so that in the fifth year you can choose to continue your studies by taking a master's course. in this case, it is very beneficial for students with free tuition, since it covers one year's expenses (master's degree lasts two years).

I think that within the labor field and the demands of this, it is necessary to continue studying after the degree, if there is the possibility and the means to do so. I like the idea of doing postgraduate studies, especially in terms of learning more and becoming more professional in areas that I also like and that I did not choose because I chose social work, such as psychology. In fact, I entered to study social work having in mind that later I would like to complement it with psychology.

I have already said that I would like to choose psychology as a postgraduate study, but I would also love to do a postgraduate study in history, it is what would encourage me to finish my degree and continue studying. I have taken courses in psychology (social) and history (contemporary social and Chilean social) and they have been my favorite. Also, I would like to add that a particular topic that calls my attention and I would like to work on something related to that is "Memory and Human Rights", study and work on the "social trauma" from psychology, history and social work. These courses are offered by the house of studies and the museum of memory (I saw it recently).

I reviewed the links posted by the professor and the truth is that they caught my attention and I can say that they are very similar to the curriculum of the university of chile.
