My Study Programme

 hi classmates and teacher

in this ocassion, im going to talk about my study programme. Currently, im student of second year of social work of the university of chile; i enter in the year 2022, after leaving 4th grade. social work at the university of chile convinced me because of its program of studies, which trains you as a social scientist. In particular, at the university of chile they work more on research, working in "nuclei" from the third year.

i can say that my experience studying at the university have been very good (i wanna believe that), of course I have also had a lot of stress, anxiety, anguish at times, but I take away the good things.

In the first year my subjects corresponded to a basic plan of social sciences, so to speak. I had philosophy, sociological theory, methodology, production, social history (of the world and then of Chile) and within the line of social work I had theoretical and political foundations and critical approaches to social work. In this first semester of my second year I have had economics and psychology, which I have liked very much and have surprised me because it was not what I expected. These along with social history have been my favorite subjects so far.

my experience has been full of emotions, I feel that time goes by very fast, especially this year. In my first semester we were “student stoppage” for 1 month, and this year we have mobilized and united as social work from different universities, first because they took social work out of the “health code” and since that event, we have seen the need to unite but because we believe that we must strengthen the discipline that has been harmed since the dictatorship. So on that note, Im excited for things to come for social work.

BLOG 5 - My Experiences Learning English

 hi classmates

in this blog, i will talk about my experiences learning english. In the first place, my first approach to English education was only in 5th grade, before that I had not had any English classes in the school. Now that has changed, because English is taught from pre-kindergarten, which I feel generates a better foundation in the language.

Regarding my experience studying English at the university, I can say that at the beginning it was strange, since i didn't have english for a period of time (this is my second time taking English as a course at the university) I felt that i had forgotten many things that I had learned in high school.

I can say that it has been a good experience in the university, in my previous course most of my classmates were from my same career, so they were known, not like now. But this is not bad, since I have been able to coexist with students from other careers of FACSO. In addition, I would like to point out that both professors that I have had have been very good teachers, and I can tell that they want us to learn and they use dynamics and materials that are pleasant and available to everyone. So I feel that the "demand" is good and the pedagogical methods.

The use of blogs seems to me an entertaining and efficient way to learn English, because in this way we can reinforce both writing and writing, besides having some kind of "interaction" with our classmates, getting to know each other and expressing our interesting depending on the topic of the blog.

I think I need to improve my writing, the way i put sentences together, the listening and my pronunciation (i've always struggled with it). I think I can improve by writing in English and watching series that use English to familiarize myself with it. I usually use English for reading in some entertainment applications (twitter, tiktok), listening to music and in series or movies.

bye.

Postgraduate Studies

Hi everyone, How have you been?

Well, this time i will talk about postgrade studies. Currently, I am second year student of social work in the University of Chile. This career has a duration of five years and in the last year one can choose whether to immediately take a master's course. that is, the curriculum of social work at the university of chile is created so that in the fifth year you can choose to continue your studies by taking a master's course. in this case, it is very beneficial for students with free tuition, since it covers one year's expenses (master's degree lasts two years).

I think that within the labor field and the demands of this, it is necessary to continue studying after the degree, if there is the possibility and the means to do so. I like the idea of doing postgraduate studies, especially in terms of learning more and becoming more professional in areas that I also like and that I did not choose because I chose social work, such as psychology. In fact, I entered to study social work having in mind that later I would like to complement it with psychology.

I have already said that I would like to choose psychology as a postgraduate study, but I would also love to do a postgraduate study in history, it is what would encourage me to finish my degree and continue studying. I have taken courses in psychology (social) and history (contemporary social and Chilean social) and they have been my favorite. Also, I would like to add that a particular topic that calls my attention and I would like to work on something related to that is "Memory and Human Rights", study and work on the "social trauma" from psychology, history and social work. These courses are offered by the house of studies and the museum of memory (I saw it recently).

I reviewed the links posted by the professor and the truth is that they caught my attention and I can say that they are very similar to the curriculum of the university of chile.

blog 3- my dream job

 Hi everyone

In this blog I will talk about my dream job as a child. I would obsess about something and then forget about it, and so on and so forth. I remember wanting to be a doctor, for a long time, but then I disliked the sciences more and more so I noticed that we would not be compatible.

I also remember that my dream was to be a writer, I liked it very much and I had the habit of writing, besides I became obsessed with books and with everything that commented on the "magic" of the world of books. I remember that I had all the versions of "Santiago in 100 words" and as I had a computer I used to write from Word. With time I think I forgot this idea and I remembered it a little while ago. Then, I became obsessed with CSI and crime series, and I wanted to be a forensic scientist, but I discarded this idea because I was told that there was no job field in Chile and I didn't want to belong to the PDI.

I had a hard time deciding what to study, I really liked history and pedagogy but it became a frustrated dream, and I decided to study social work, first I was just testing if I liked it (I was between psychology and social work) since I entered with 17 and I had the possibility of making internal change, but the career conquered me and I discarded my other option.

I do not rule out the idea of traveling for work, of course I would like to, but it all depends. As for the salary, I never thought about it nor was it an important factor in my decision, I don't think about it often but I think it is not that well paid, but it all depends, I hope. In any case, the salary is not a determining factor for me and I must say that I am very happy with my career.

my best concert

My best concert: Macha y el Bloque depresivo in Caupolican Theater

The truth is that I really enjoy attending concerts, whether or not I know the artist or the style of music is an activity that I like to do, obviously if it is an artist that I like I enjoy it much more, I think my musical tastes are very varied. But so far if I had to choose one to relate in this blog, and that has been very special, I choose the time I attended the concert of Macha y el bloque depresivo at the Caupolicán theater, the exact date is May 25 last year.

Macha y el bloque depresivo is a musical project of Chico Trujillo and La Floripondio artists, and they are dedicated to reinterpret songs of "onion" music, boleros, and Peruvian waltzes. Aldo Asenjo, known as Macha, explains that they chose precisely that musical style for being "the kind of songs that you find at four in the morning in the bar that closes at the last one".

I had wanted to see them live for a long time, so we took the opportunity when they announced dates for Santiago de Chile, as they were on tour. I remember that they took out many dates because they were sold out within hours of announcing them.

The day of the concert, we were on "strike" at the university, so I remember that I was at the university in an activity for a documentary and then we got there at about 5 o'clock, very punctual. I remember being nervous because it was a concert for people over 18 years old and I was 17 years old at the time, but I could still get in haha. Because we got there so early, we waited more than 5 hours, but it was totally worth it.

People of all ages attended, but especially adults, very enthusiastic and too many fans. The show had the participation of Alvaro Henriquez, Anarkia Tropikal, Lucy Briceño and mariachis, which made it even more spectacular and made the show last approximately 4 hours.

I listened to my favorite songs live and it certainly gave me a lot of serotonin to have in reserve, I hope to hear them live again soon.

A Country/Place I Would Like/Love To Visit

 hi everyone

in this ocassion, i will talk about a country that I have not had the opportunity to know more than photos but I would love to do it.

my goal is to travel and visit different places, but this time, as first destination I choose mexico, because personally this place has a very important sentimental value for me. My grandmother, who is the person who raised me, has always told me about her desire to know this country, when I was a little girl we used to watch a lot of Mexican series and movies in the afternoon. Also, we love boleros and she loves mariachi music, her favorite singer is Juan Gabriel. Mexican culture, dances and traditions seem wonderful to us.

Mexico's history, as in Chile, is full of curious stories, it has 121 magical towns, each one with its own symbols, legends and stories, an excellent alternative for those visitors looking to discover the deepest Mexico. Its people and landscapes that dazzle its artistic area: dance, gastronomy, music, literature.

I feel that Mexico has a great variety and contrast throughout its territory, this is why they call it a "time capsule", since you will be transported to different times. This country is one of the few destinations where you can find pre-Hispanic ruins, French-style buildings, colonial-era constructions, and the latest trends in architecture.

Besides, it has wonderful landscapes, marked by the history of the territory, characterized by revolutionary struggles, disputes and conflicts. For example, Tenochtitlan, Chichen Itza, the temple of the warriors, among many others. Historical places, with living history, and that represent the Latin American struggle. This is for me mexico and that is why i would like to visit it.

thank you for reading, see you later guys.
